Instructor, Stroller Strides
I was born and raised on the Central Coast of California in the small town of Arroyo Grande. I spent my entire childhood there until I moved just 5 hours north for college at Sonoma State University. Aside from a couple of semesters spent at the University of Hawai’i (Aloha!) I didn’t live outside of the state until I started my career as a Flight Attendant and moved across the country to Boston almost 11 years ago.
The spark in my passion for fitness was ignited when I started running shortly after my move here. As I trained for my first half marathon I was confronted with the challenge of fitting my workouts into an unpredictable schedule, and in unpredictable places. I quickly learned to take advantage of any bit of downtime in between flights and layovers, and created workouts I could do in minimal time with minimal equipment in my own hotel room, wherever it may be.
After completing several half, and two full marathons, my love for fitness only continued to grow and I was inspired to pursue a career in the industry. In 2014 I got my ACE Personal Trainer certification, however with a busy flight schedule I still struggled to turn my new passion into my work. I did however, continue my studies, earning a Fitness Nutrition Specialty last year.
Little did I know, my biggest fitness challenge would become the most amazing opportunity! On February 4th, 2017 my husband Chris and I welcomed our sweet son Benson. Becoming a mother was the most beautiful and gratifying journey of my life, however with all of our family 3,000 miles away (and having a newborn in the middle of Winter) I also struggled with feelings of isolation. I discovered Fit4Mom online during a late night feeding and finally went to my first Stroller Strides class in May. Right away I knew I had found exactly what I needed as a new mother looking to regain fitness and friends who could relate to what I was going through. The Fit4Mom village has been the most inspirational and supportive group of women I’ve ever had the pleasure to be around!
After only a month, I knew this is what my fitness journey had been leading up to and I became certified as a Stroller Strides instructor in June 2017! My goal is to create workouts that are just as fun as they are challenging, and exciting for our little ones. Above all, I hope to provide a place where mothers feel safe, inspired and supported on their own individual journeys!
